Two suspects appear in court for the alleged murder of IFP Member of Parliament Khethamabala Sithole.



A dedicated task team has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into Sithole’s killing. Two individuals have been arrested and charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder following the incident at Buyafuthi hostel in Katlehong on 31 May 2025 around 17:30.

Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, SAPS GP spokesperson stated that the incident involved unknown men opening fire on a group gathered for a meeting. Sithole was declared dead at the scene, while two others sustained gunshot injuries—one was treated and discharged, and the other remained hospitalized.

On 2 June 2025, the team detained three people for questioning. Two, aged 30 and 32, were linked to the incident, while the third was released. Further arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.

The suspects appeared before the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on 5 June 2025.
