Police Issue Arrest Warrant for Lucky Boitumelo Molefe Linked to Murder Case

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has issued a warrant for the arrest of Lucky Boitumelo Molefe, who is wanted in connection with the murder of 30-year-old engineer Armard Swart.

Swart, an employee at Q Tech Engineering Company in Vereeniging, was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle outside his workplace by two suspects driving a white Hyundai i20 on April 17, 2024. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“An intensive investigation led by the SAPS Head Office Organised Crime team and Crime Intelligence resulted in the arrest of four suspects, including one believed to be the mastermind behind the murder of Swart,” stated SAPS national spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mukhathi. He added that the suspects allegedly orchestrated the assassination to silence Swart after he exposed fraud and corruption related to a Transnet tender contract.

Molefe, who is from Johannesburg, has been in hiding since December 2024, and police have been actively searching for him. The other four accused remain in custody, with their case postponed for trial at the Palm Ridge High Court in August 2025.

Authorities are urging Lucky Boitumelo Molefe to surrender at the nearest police station. Additionally, anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Khorommbi at 063 695 8590.
