A 39-year-old man, previously in custody for questioning, has been formally charged with the murder of Likhona Fose, the 14-year-old whose body was discovered in Roodepoort.
SAPS GP spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that the suspect is scheduled to appear before the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. He also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the police's Occult Unit in pursuing the case following the discovery of Fose's body. The suspect was initially brought in for questioning on Monday, June 9, 2025, and subsequently linked to the murder.
The investigation was launched after the discovery of Fose's body in Durban Deep, Roodepoort, on the afternoon of June 1, 2025. SAPS spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi reported that a passer-by found the body in an open field and alerted the authorities.
Colonel Nevhuhulwi emphasized that all available resources have been mobilized to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are apprehended and brought to justice. The police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
