Swift Arrest Following Reiger Park Mass Shooting

Police have arrested a 23-year-old suspect on Monday evening, 3 November, in connection with the drive-by shooting that claimed six lives and left three others injured in Reiger Park on Saturday, 1 November 2025.

Gauteng Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana, welcomed the breakthrough, commending the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) for their decisive action.  

 “The suspect was arrested by the AGU and is expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on 5 November 2025,” confirmed SAPS Gauteng spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

In a separate operation, another AGU team apprehended a 62-year-old man for drug possession during routine patrols in Reiger Park. Officers discovered 14 ziplock bags containing methcathinone (Cat), 43 mandrax tablets, and 105 half-tablets after stopping and searching the suspect.

Major General Kekana praised the team’s relentless efforts and expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation:  

“This swift arrest would not have been possible without your assistance. Your willingness to work with the police is vital in removing criminal elements from our communities.”

Fourth Arrest in R10 Million Insurance Murder and Fraud Case


The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the arrest of a fourth suspect in connection with the high-profile R10 million insurance murder, fraud, and money laundering case involving former police officer Rachel Kutumela and her family.

The 54-year-old suspect, identified as the brother of the accused former Police Sergeant, was apprehended on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, at approximately 11:00 in Molejie, near Seshego. According to SAPS Polokwane spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the suspect is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, facing charges of murder, fraud, and money laundering.

Brigadier Mashaba further confirmed that the other three accused—Rachel Kutumela (43), her sister Anna Shokane (47), and daughter Florah Shokane (23)—remain in custody following the denial of their bail applications. The matter has since been escalated to the Polokwane High Court for further proceedings.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.


DEVELOPING STORY: Police Investigate Attempted Murder After Shooting Incident in Vosloorus

 The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched an investigation into an attempted murder case following a shooting incident involving the vehicle of businessman Brown Mogotsi late last night in Vosloorus.

According to SAPS National Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the police were alerted at approximately 10pm by a private security official reporting gunfire in the area. “We immediately dispatched a team of officers to the scene. Upon arrival, we found the security official together withB Mogotsi, who alleged that individuals in a white bakkie opened fire on his vehicle while he was inside,” Mathe confirmed.

Brigadier Mathe stated that Mogotsi was visibly shaken and did not feel safe at the time. “He indicated that he would formally open a case this morning at the nearest police station. For now, SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder, and the vehicle has been seized for forensic analysis,” she said.

Specialized units, including the Local Criminal Record Centre, fingerprint experts, and ballistic specialists, attended the scene to collect physical evidence. “Our forensic experts were dispatched immediately to assist in determining what transpired. We are hopeful that Mogotsi will present himself to provide a formal statement,” Mathe added.

Police urge anyone with information about the shooting or the unidentified white bakkie to come forward as investigations continue.
