The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched an investigation into an attempted murder case following a shooting incident involving the vehicle of businessman Brown Mogotsi late last night in Vosloorus.
According to SAPS National Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the police were alerted at approximately 10pm by a private security official reporting gunfire in the area. “We immediately dispatched a team of officers to the scene. Upon arrival, we found the security official together withB Mogotsi, who alleged that individuals in a white bakkie opened fire on his vehicle while he was inside,” Mathe confirmed.
Brigadier Mathe stated that Mogotsi was visibly shaken and did not feel safe at the time. “He indicated that he would formally open a case this morning at the nearest police station. For now, SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder, and the vehicle has been seized for forensic analysis,” she said.
Specialized units, including the Local Criminal Record Centre, fingerprint experts, and ballistic specialists, attended the scene to collect physical evidence. “Our forensic experts were dispatched immediately to assist in determining what transpired. We are hopeful that Mogotsi will present himself to provide a formal statement,” Mathe added.
Police urge anyone with information about the shooting or the unidentified white bakkie to come forward as investigations continue.
