Police have arrested a 23-year-old suspect on Monday evening, 3 November, in connection with the drive-by shooting that claimed six lives and left three others injured in Reiger Park on Saturday, 1 November 2025.

Gauteng Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana, welcomed the breakthrough, commending the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) for their decisive action.

“The suspect was arrested by the AGU and is expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on 5 November 2025,” confirmed SAPS Gauteng spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

In a separate operation, another AGU team apprehended a 62-year-old man for drug possession during routine patrols in Reiger Park. Officers discovered 14 ziplock bags containing methcathinone (Cat), 43 mandrax tablets, and 105 half-tablets after stopping and searching the suspect.

Major General Kekana praised the team’s relentless efforts and expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation:

“This swift arrest would not have been possible without your assistance. Your willingness to work with the police is vital in removing criminal elements from our communities.”

Police continue to urge the public to support the fight against crime by reporting suspicious activities via the Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111 or anonymously through the MySAPS App.
