Residents of Lenasia Ext 1-13 should prepare for a lengthy water outage anticipated to extend over 86 hours, starting at 7:00 AM on 13 December and concluding on 16 December 2024. This interruption is due to planned maintenance at Rand Water's Eikenhof pump station.
Johannesburg Water has informed that the maintenance at the Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes pump stations will impact water supply in various regions. The Eikenhof station will undergo a total water shutdown, while Zwartkopjes will face low pressure to no water for 36 hours, commencing at 5:00 AM on 13 December until 14 December 2024.
The purpose of the maintenance is to improve plant reliability and efficiency and is scheduled during the low-demand period in December. Johannesburg Water has assured residents that alternative water supplies will be provided through water tankers in coordination with local ward councillors. Ongoing progress updates will be shared throughout the outage.
The areas affected by the Eikenhof station maintenance include Soweto, Randburg/Roodepoort, Commando, Lenasia, and portions of Johannesburg Central, including Eagles Nest, Crown Gardens, Aeroton, and Alan Manor. The Zwartkopjes station shutdown will affect areas such as Crown Gardens, Eagles Nest, Parktown, Berea, Forrest Hill, Alan Manor, Naturena, Aeroton, Orlando East, and the Hector Norris Pump Station.
Residents are advised to stockpile water in advance and monitor updates from Johannesburg Water for further information.
