The Lenasia Tennis Association (LTA) proudly hosted its annual junior doubles tennis tournament on Saturday, 30 November 2024, at their premises on the corner of Palm and Acorn Street, Lenasia.
The event saw a remarkable turnout, with 100 junior players, ranging from 7 to 19 years old, competing in various age groups across both male and female categories.
“Our motto at LTA is ‘bringing communities together,’ and this tournament is a perfect example of that,” said Nadia Cajee, Chairperson of LTA.
She added that the event was not only about competition but also about fostering great sportsmanship, determination, and a sense of community. “It was a day filled with exhilarating tennis and admirable performances, from the beginners to the advanced players,” she commented.
Lenasia Tennis Association continues to grow, with a focus on nurturing young talent. “Our goal is to create opportunities for these young athletes, and we hope that, one day, some will pursue tennis professionally,” said Cajee. “Through dreams, goals, and hard work, we are building future champions.”
The success of the event is attributed to the unwavering commitment of the LTA coaches, led by head coach Cavan Bergman, and supported by Saajid Waja (Syco), Ahmed Khota, Ziyaad Kardamey, Yazdhaan Waja, and Nadia Cajee (chairman, coach, and groundsman). The dedicated executive team, including Vice-Chairman Ziyaad Kardamey, Secretary Yasmin Mathir, Treasurer Mahomed Shariff, Tournament Secretary Ml Yaseen Cajee, League Secretary Ismail Moola, and committee members, also played a crucial role in the tournament's success.
A special thank you was extended to the tournament's sponsors: the Tayob family, 10by20 Padel Lenasia, Courtside Cafe, and Muhammed Sallie, whose support helped make the event a memorable and impactful experience for all participants.
“Our mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment for our children, while helping them grow through the sport of tennis,” concluded Cajee, emphasizing the association's commitment to safeguarding its players with 24-hour security.
