Farouk Meyer, a former convicted felon who had been released from prison a few years ago was killed along with well-known businessman Marcus Ryan. Meyer had changed his life for the better after being released and unfortunately was killed during a notorious shooting. The incident occurred at 5:40 pm, on the evening of Monday, 26 April on the Boundary Road, Eldorado Park.
It is believed that Meyer had just closed his spare shop at the time. Numerous shots were fired at both Meyer and Ryan who were together.
Ryan was caught in the crossfire.
The eyewitnesses said: “Ryan was shot face-off and was declared dead on scene while Meyer was shot multiple times sitting in the passenger’s seat.”
Meyer was rushed to the hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries on arrival.
SAPS Provincial spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said: “Police have launched a manhunt while investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of two men in Eldorado Park.”
She added that according to preliminary reports at the disposal of the police, a witness heard gunshots and on investigation noticed a vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

Meyer was laid to rest on 27 April at the Avalon Cemetery.
