Positive Meeting Held For Ext 13 Ward 10

Ward 10 Councillor Nokuthula Nofemela hosted a successful and positive community meeting on Saturday, 3 May 2025, at Ext 13 Park in Lenasia, specifically for residents of Extension 13. The meeting aimed to strengthen community engagement and provide residents with direct access to essential city services.

Representatives from City Power, Environmental Services, City Parks, and other key entities attended to address community concerns. However, it was noted that the South African Police Services (SAPS) were not present. PR Councillor Zahid Zadie Jainoodeem was also in attendance and contributed to the discussions.

The event was well-received, offering Ward 10 residents an opportunity to interact directly with their councillor and learn more about the active role she plays in the area. While residents enthusiastically raised questions, some were directed to the incorrect departments, underscoring the need for clearer communication in future meetings.

A key takeaway from the meeting was the decision to continue holding these sessions in the park, encouraging broader participation and accessibility. Councillor Nofemela also urged the Local Residents Association (LRA) to engage with the community on issues concerning the demarcation board, ensuring residents' voices are heard in local governance.

Presenters from Environmental Services, City Power, the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), and City Parks explained their functions and responsibilities, helping to clarify their roles for attendees. Although some questions required further follow-up, the meeting fostered a stronger sense of collaboration between residents and local authorities.

Overall, the gathering marked a meaningful step forward in building trust and transparency between the Ward 10 community and its elected representatives, laying the groundwork for a more informed and engaged constituency.
