47 arrested over the weekend in Lenasia and Lenasia South


The South African Police Service (SAPS) has successfully apprehended around 47 individuals in the Lenasia and Lenasia South areas during the weekend of May 16-18. 

Lieutenant Colonel Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson for SAPS Johannesburg district, stated that these individuals were arrested for various offenses, including armed robbery, drug possession, breaches of protection orders, illegal immigration, assault with intent to inflict serious harm, kidnapping, public intoxication, theft from vehicles, possession of suspected stolen goods, vandalism, and drug possession. 

She highlighted the critical role of community participation in crime prevention and urged residents to report any criminal activities by contacting their local police station or the police crime stop number at 08600 10111. Additionally, community members are encouraged to utilize the MySAPSApp for anonymous tips.
