JHB Executive Mayor Mpho Phalatse
Executive Mayor Mpho Phalatse has had to postpone her meeting with the residents of Soweto due to her being ill and has been placed on bed rest.
She was set to address the community on Saturday, 6 August with comprehensive feedback concerning the memorandum that was handed over to her at the Metro Centre about a month back
“Despite being ill and being placed on bedrest, the Executive Mayor was determined to go ahead with tomorrow’s proceedings, but was advised to fully recuperate before resuming her official duties,” said Mabine Seabe, Mayoral spokesperson.
He added that it would not have been appropriate to delegate a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) to represent the Executive Mayor on such a pressing matter, given that Phalatse committed to personally responding to the memoranda.
The Executive Mayor conveyed her deepest apologies to the residents of Soweto. A new date will be confirmed, in consultation with the Soweto Leadership.
Executive Mayor Phalatse further wishes to thank MMCs who have filled in for her over the last two-days.
Mabine said that the Johannesburg Multi-Party Government will never shy away from meeting with and in communities.
