The initiative came owing to the constant shootings and killings that the community and other surrounding areas have been facing for the past months. But most importantly, to bring Eldorado Park and other communities to stand as unison in the fight against gun violence, substance, and alcohol abuse, gangsterism and many more issues.
On the 6th, the community and leaders gathered at the corner of Turf Road and Golden Highway where they marched to the stadium. The crowd held placards written ‘say no to guns and killing of young men and women’.
The day was graced with different speakers including sports such as rugby, soccer, boxing, cricket, baseball.
On Sunday the 7th – the day was graced by the Muslim brothers and sisters who read namaaz at 12pm and thereafter different Christian pastors gathers together to pray for the Greater Eldorado Park and surrounding areas, and not forgetting Soweto Parliament’s Nhlanhla Lux who took the crowd by surprise with his motivational speech, including the Chair of Chairs Colleen Makhubele.
