Police in Wierdabrug responded to a tragic incident on Tuesday evening, 2 December 2025, after receiving reports of a shooting in Baard Street, Raslouw. The call came in at approximately 22:45.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male who had sustained fatal injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument between a father and son escalated during a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the son produced a firearm and shot his father.
Crime Scene Management was summoned to process the scene, and the firearm involved will undergo forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect, identified as the son of the deceased, was arrested at the scene. A case of murder has been opened and is currently under investigation. The suspect is expected to appear in court on Thursday, 4 December 2025.
