Three South African Police Service (SAPS) constables—Constable Cebekhulu Linda (male, 30), Constable Keamogetswe Buys (female, 30), and Constable Boipelo Senoge (female, 20)—who were en route from Bloemfontein to Limpopo for deployment have been reported missing since Wednesday, 23 April 2025.
The National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, has called upon the public for assistance in locating the missing officers.
“Their last known location was at the Engen garage near the Grasmere toll plaza on the N1 on Wednesday, 23 April 2025. Both their vehicle’s tracking device and their cell phones have been turned off since the day they disappeared,” said SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.
The vehicle associated with the missing constables has the registration number JCL 401 FS.
According to Mathe, a 24-hour Venue Operational Centre (VOC) has been established, and a comprehensive search is underway. A specialized team of detectives and crime intelligence operators from Gauteng and the Free State have been mobilized to assist in the investigation.
“The members were off duty at the time and did not reach their designated area of deployment. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer, Captain Chaacha Manga, at 082 527-6099,” she added.
The SAPS is currently investigating the possibility of hijacking and kidnapping related to this case.
