JMPD warns of fake recruitment posts on social platforms

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has issued a cautionary notice regarding a deceptive recruitment advertisement that has been disseminated on social media and possibly other platforms. This advertisement falsely asserts that the 'Metro Police Academy Training NOW OPEN 2025 INTAKE' is currently accepting applications.

The JMPD has unequivocally declared that this advertisement is a fabrication and does not originate from their agency. All information presented in the advertisement, including the reference number, application deadline, location, minimum qualifications, and purported stipend, is entirely fictitious. 'It is profoundly troubling that individuals are attempting to mislead the public by falsely linking themselves to our department,' stated JMPD Chief of Police Commissioner Patrick Jaca. 'We wish to reassure the residents of Johannesburg that our recruitment procedures are conducted with the highest level of integrity and are always communicated through official channels. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to rely solely on verified information from the City of Johannesburg and the JMPD.' The JMPD strongly recommends that the public exercise caution and disregard any misleading information pertaining to recruitment. The department adheres to official and transparent recruitment processes, which are communicated through their official channels, including the City of Johannesburg's website and verified JMPD social media accounts.

In response to this fraudulent activity, the JMPD is actively investigating the origin of the advertisement and will take appropriate measures against those responsible for this deception. The public is advised not to disclose any personal information or make any payments in response to this or any other dubious recruitment advertisements. For accurate information regarding recruitment and other official announcements from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, please consult the official City of Johannesburg website at www.joburg.org.za and the JMPD's verified social media platforms.
