traffic in Bangalore. By www.thehindu.com |
Bangalore is known as the Garden City in India for years now. I remember it as Garden City when I came on tour end of 2005 – beginning 2006. It also had minimal traffic. But when I reached Bangalore on August 17, 2012, oh my word, it was shocking to see that Bangalore turned out to be a city that is full of pollution, traffic and population has increased and worst of all garbage. It was not like that before. But as the years have passed, it has turned out to be Garbage City.
As we know, Mumbai is a busy place, heavy traffic and it is over populated. But Bangalore is slowing getting there to as I can see it.
People do not care how they drive or bother to follow traffic rules. You would see an auto rickshaw skipping the red robot, or a car or bike or bus, constant traffic jams, people fighting with each other because they have no way to go through or to park in the parking bay.
It is tough as if you come from a clean environment where Oxygen (O2) is breathable you have no issues, living in the city where it is polluted and everywhere you go you see garbage is not a nice feeling. You feel nauseated and lack O2 at some point.
It is a great experience if you have lived a life where you do not see pollution or garbage lying on the streets and people still selling vegetables, fruits, etc on the side of the road despite that awful smell, people hooting constantly or a fight going on causing a traffic jam. Hopefully 10 years from now Bangalore will turn into Garden City because it is surely missed by many.
I hope that in the future this will change and help Bangaloreans live a healthy life.
